We care. For you. For tomorrow.
At abeba, responsibility means thinking outside the box. For you, for our team, for our environment. For today—and for the future.
That is why we have developed clear standards that guide us in our day-to-day work—fair, collaborative, and responsible. For us, responsibility is not an afterthought, but an integral part of our daily actions.
For abeba, sustainability means empowering our employees, protecting the environment, promoting social responsibility, producing responsibly—and also prioritizing animal welfare.
Children are our future.
They deserve compassion, protection, and opportunities. Through our care, abeba takes on this responsibility—in Moldova just as much as here at home.
At our manufacturing facility in Moldova, we have been supporting children and social institutions for years. Through our partnership with the Parkani boarding middle school—a home for orphaned children from the poorest backgrounds—we are helping to create opportunities for them. Regular monetary and in-kind donations make these children’s lives a little more bearable. To ensure they also have access to modern technology, computers and monitors have been donated to various schools.
In Germany, too, supporting children is close to our hearts. That’s why abeba is sponsoring a children’s soccer team—to foster team spirit, joy, and equal opportunities.
Sustainability means acting consciously.
As a company with international operations, abeba is committed to the responsible use of our planet’s resources.
Logistics plays a key role in this effort: By optimizing our processes and planning carefully, we avoid unnecessary transport, reduce emissions, and thus help protect the environment.
At our facilities, too, we rely on resource-efficient technology—from long-lasting light bulbs with reduced energy consumption to materials and paints that are free of harmful substances and solvents and meet our high environmental standards.
Whenever possible, we recycle and reuse waste and recyclable materials. This includes the consistent use of recycled paper and compliance with clear waste and environmental guidelines.
Responsibility in our supply chain.
For us, sustainability doesn’t start with the product itself, but with the entire value chain. That’s why abeba adheres to clear standards—both at our headquarters in St. Ingbert and at all our international production facilities.
Our suppliers are contractually obligated to comply with these social and environmental requirements: workplace safety, a strict ban on child labor and forced labor, fair wages, and social benefits are binding principles of our partnership. Compliance is regularly verified through audits.
Quality is abeba’s top priority—from development and production to delivery. State-of-the-art manufacturing technologies, transparency in all processes, and rigorous testing ensure that our products are safe for human health. The use of prohibited substances is strictly prohibited.
In addition, we actively support our local partners in continuously improving social, environmental, and manufacturing standards. After all, every investment in better standards is an investment in our shared future.
Code of Conduct – Responsibility with Integrity.
Social responsibility is of central importance in the footwear and leather goods industry—precisely because production and trade take place on a global scale. As a member of this industry, abeba adheres to the industry association’s “Code of Conduct” and applies the principles outlined therein in our daily operations.
The Code of Conduct sets out clear and practical guidelines on key issues related to human rights, sustainability, and responsible business practices. It serves as a binding framework and set of guidelines for us, even when national regulations are insufficient or conflict with these principles.
For abeba, this initiative is not a “voluntary extra,” but rather an integral part of who we are: fair, collaborative, and sustainable. In this way, we assure our employees, partners, and customers that we take our responsibilities seriously and base our actions on clear standards.
Sustainable package shipping with GLS.
At abeba, every step counts—including shipping. Together with our partner GLS, we are committed to sustainable package shipping, and we have been awarded the “Partner in Climate Protection” certificate for our efforts.
This certification confirms that the greenhouse gas emissions generated by shipping are offset by additional climate protection projects. Specifically, we support the “Madre de Dios” forest conservation project in Peru—a project that preserves valuable rainforest areas and thereby actively sequesters CO₂.
Our approach is: avoid, reduce, offset. Carbon offsetting is a key component of our comprehensive climate protection strategy.
